Is Your Model Broken?

Gary Keller says, “Break your own model before the competition does, because you get to write the new one.”

So, what if your model is already broken? If your lead generation strategy isn’t producing enough deals, or your investment approach isn’t yielding the opportunities you need, it’s time to rethink your approach—before the market forces you to.

For agents, that might mean adjusting how (or where) you’re finding clients. If your current methods aren’t working, doubling down won’t fix them. Try tracking where your last 10 deals actually came from—are you spending time in the right places? If not, shift your focus to what’s working.

For investors, maybe it’s time to revisit your Buybox. If the properties you’ve been hunting for no longer cash flow or pencil out, widen your search criteria. Can you target a slightly different price range, strategy, or even market? Running fresh numbers on your top five saved searches could reveal new opportunities you’ve been missing.

The best time to pivot is before you’re forced to. What part of your model needs a rewrite?
