The Loudest Person in the Room Has Done the Fewest Deals
If you spend any time at investor meetups, landlord associations, or networking events, you’ll start to see the pattern. The room usually splits into three types: the loudest voice, the ultra-quiet dreamer, and the steady operator who speaks just enough.
The loudest person in the room has often done the fewest deals. They need everyone to know they’re there. The overly timid one? They love the idea of investing, but rarely execute. The sweet spot is the calm operator — not dominating the room, but when they do speak, what they say is accurate, measured, and based on real reps.
If I could go back, I’d attend at least one investor meetup every single week — both to grow my own portfolio and as an agent intentionally building relationships with investors I could serve. Not because I love networking (I don’t), but because proximity compounds. The real players don’t need attention — they need good relationships. And you only find them if you keep showing up consistently.
